ARTIST STATEMENT
In 2020, I participated in our nation’s census by helping to locate addresses from which there had been no response. Often I followed my GPS to enchantingly beautiful, out-of-the-way, secluded locations. This piece entitled “Lost to Time” was inspired by one such property. The lush green grass and tree canopy contrasts with the crumbling disarray and vacant stare of what was once a home, a place where children played, grew old, and passed on.

Susan Davis was born an artist. At no one point did she decide “to be” an artist because artistic sensibility is as innately embedded in her daily endeavors as a dog’s bark or baby’s cry. Susan sketches in pencil and pen and ink and paints in watercolor and acrylic, but textiles have always been her true love. With three degrees in Textiles and Apparel Design, she knits, weaves, spins, dyes, sews and quilts.
